Various Types of Asian Art

Asian art is the product of influences from various civilizations and religions. The colorful patterns, delicate designs and extraordinary textures create a blend of unique and conventional styles that can hardly be found anywhere else. The reason behind its unparallel individuality lies in its attention to detail, which can only be achieved when art is handcrafted.

Most Asian handmade crafts are created by women residing in rural areas. These skills are considered valuable as they enable women to support their families without leaving the comfort of their homes. Their masterpieces are exhibited and sold throughout the world at reasonable prices.

Every region is known for its distinct form of handmade crafts, for example:
• Tthe Chinese are famous for their beautifully shaped and painted ceramic pottery
• Tibetan art is a reflection of Buddhism and their art consists of versatile colored patterns incorporating religious myths
• Uzbek handmade crafts are eminent worldwide for their handcrafted fabrics: Suzaine and Ikat.

These fabrics are now also used by designers for fashion accessories and home décor.

Remarkable Quality
Asian art is admired for its exceptional quality and that is why it is popular in every part of the world. People acknowledge good quality and it hikes up the sales. Good quality products may cost more, but they are durable and long-lasting; and that is the motivation for people to purchase these products.

Asian Art - The Oldest Form of Art
Many antique collectors consider old handmade crafts a valuable collection, like Uzbek handcrafted Suzaine quilts are passed down from generation to generation and are considered an important family heirloom. These quilts are hand stitched and designed by elder women of the family, incorporated with family stories and religious myths. Some superstitious people even consider it magical; since it has seen every good and bad occasion in the family.

Asian art also comprises of Buddhist sculptures and artifacts that were found in the remains of previous civilizations. These objects were crafted using brass or bronze, the possible reason why they survived centuries without being damaged.

This form of Asian art is usually religious and comprises of symbolic items and gestures; for example the Islamic art does not involve human figures due to the common belief that figure drawing is prohibited, so it mainly has delicate designs with uniformity and homogeny. Similarly, Indian art also comprise of sculptures that represent their goddesses adorned with traditional jewelry.
