This is an unauthorized transcription of a conversation that took place during a book-signing with Crispin Hellion Glover after a screening of the film What Is It?

Crispin Hellion Glover: Thank you for coming tonight. Did you enjoy the film?
Trevor Shimizu: I think your films are incredible.
CHG: Thank you. How did you hear about this event?
TS: I actually came to the event last night, then wanted to see this one.
CHG: Which did you prefer?
TS: I think, well, I think I preferred last night.
CHG: Yes, and why?
TS: I am especially interested in the psychological aspects of Steven C. Stewart's character in It is Fine! Everything is Fine… how it's a sort of wish fulfillment of a fantasy. I was thinking about how all of the sex scenes are shot from an outsider's perspective. It makes sense, though, since you are interpreting his screenplay.  I may be wrong, but I think all of the sex scenes were shot from an outside perspective.
CHG: Yes, actually they were.  And what is your name?
TS: Trevor. So, I wondered, if Steven had made the film, if the sex scenes might have been shot from his point of view… if the woman would be on top of him, from his perspective, rather than from the other side of the room.
CHG: Steven would not have been able to make the film, but it's interesting that you mention this. There is definitely a voyeuristic quality to the film. Because David and I made and used the sets, there is inherently a voyeuristic quality to filming with sets. It is somehow about the voyeur.
TS: Mm. That's interesting.
CHG: Thanks again for coming tonight, and don't forget to sign up for the mailing list at crispinglover.com!
TS: OK, great. Have a good night.
CHG: Thanks and you too.
